ＡＢＯＵＴ ＴＨＥ MATTHEW&MELKA　ＴＥＡＭ:

Amazingly, none of the people behind Matthew&Melka had any formal background in fashion. Ken Samudio is a biologist and college instructor by profession, while his sister Maye is a nursing graduate. Started December of 2007, the company initially sold vintage designer clothing to augment their finances. It proved to be a very profitable business. What made the company successful is the innate creativity of each member of the team; their unquenchable love for fashion and the dedication to their craft that is almost borderline OC so to speak.

But no one had the funding to launch a big brand. That didn't discourage the team.

Armed with talent and hard-work, plus funding from close relatives and friends　(of the arm-twisting kind);　they started creating headpieces that filled up the void in Philippine fashion. High end head pieces was a viable and open market as no one paid much attention to designer head wear. The first collection, which was launched August of 2008 proved to be huge success. Celebrities, editors and Manila's fashionistas snapped up the pieces. The collection was sold out in 5 days flat. The rest is history.

Today, Matthew&Melka creates exquisite headpieces for Philippine celebrities and fashion elite. Mariel Rodriguez, Kris Aquino, Sarah Geronimo and Anne Curtis are just some of the celebrity fans of the designer headpiece brand. They have been featured in different publications, fashion editorials (Chalk, Sense&Style, Preview, Candy, Asian Dragon) and TV Shows (Myx Where U At, The Sweet Life with Lucy Torres).

Matthew&Melka also caught the discerning eye of fashion legends Pepsi Herrera, Edwin Tan and Inno Sotto. As an additional feather to it's cap; Matthew&Melka recently opened it's Flagship Store in the south.

Soon, Matthew&Melka will also be available at fine boutiques in Greenbelt 3 and 5.

Of course, attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship and style which made Matthew&Melka a success will be forever present in each piece.
